Just Below Consciousness

Have you ever thought that you are just on the cusp of an important insight?

As I'm reading The Origin of Wealth I've been exposed to a better understanding of self organizing open systems. Something about the way that energy and thermodynamics interact as defined in evolutionary systems and based on the influence of Moore's Law are causing me to see something at the edge of my mental vision.

Its like that dream where you know you've solved something but you lose it in the waking moments. Trouble is: I wasn't asleep when the feeling swept over. Am I sensing some answers to the questions I've been asking myself about what seemed to be disparate topics of wealth and energy?

Gene, I share your skepticism regarding global warming, and was recently fascinated to come across a book written in the mid- 1950s, called "The World in 1980." The book contained an essay by John VonNeumann, architect of modern computing systems, in which he spends 1-1/2 pages talking about "global warming!" Pretty interesting to see the term used that far back.
